Molded In-line Fuse from Amphenol Protects against Ground Fault Damage

New fuse is rugged, easy to install

Sidney, N.Y. May 2012 – Amphenol Industrial Global Operations, a global leader in interconnect systems, now offers a molded in-line fuse that helps to protect photovoltaic (PV) systems from ground fault current damage.  Used by PV system engineers, EPCs, solar contractors and design engineers, Amphenol’s HelioFuse is rugged and easy to install.

This new fuse was developed to address the need for a cost-effective solution to ground fault protection in PV systems without the need for a combiner box that houses the solar panel’s fuse links.  Its molded construction provides weather tight housing that prevents moisture from getting into the fuse and further protects it from harsh weather.

The UL-approved HelioFuse is designed for rapid removal and replacement with minimal system downtime should a ground fault occur.  This molded in-line fuse is fully intermateable with industry standard PV connectors.

The IP68-rated HelioFuse is offered in two configurations, a connector version that plugs into an industry standard solar connector like the Helios H4 connector and a wire overmold version for custom harnesses.

The HelioFuse operates at a maximum of 1000 V DC with a 20 A rating and a 10,000 A current withstand rating.
